How to Get Concreting Leads in Australia (2026)
Oct 03, 2026
Most concreting leads in Australia come from Google search and Maps, builder and landscaper referrals, and past customers. Start with a complete Google Business Profile under the Concrete contractor category, plenty of finished job photos, and a review request after every pour. Then add a page for each service and suburb you want more work in.
Concreting marketing has one big advantage over most trades: the finished product sells itself. A new exposed aggregate driveway is on show to every neighbour who walks past, and a photo of it does more persuading than any sales line. The work is also high value per job, so each extra lead you win matters. This guide covers where concreting leads actually come from, how to set up the free channels properly, where paid ads fit, and how to use lead sites without letting them run your business.
Where concreting leads come from in Australia
If you ask how to get concreting jobs, the honest answer is that they arrive through four doors. Most concreters get some work through each, and the mix changes as the business matures.
- Google search and Maps. A homeowner types "concrete driveway" plus their suburb, or "concreter near me", and picks from the map listings and the first few results. This is where most new residential enquiries start.
- Lead sites. Platforms such as hipages, ServiceSeeking and Airtasker post jobs and charge you for access to them. They can fill a gap quickly, but you are renting the customer.
- Referrals. Builders, landscapers, pool builders, fencers and real estate agents all need a reliable concreter. One good builder relationship can be worth more than months of cold leads.
- Repeat customers. A driveway lasts a long time, so repeat work looks different in concreting. It comes as the next job on the same property (the path, the shed slab, the alfresco area), resealing, and the neighbours who saw your work.
The rest of this guide takes each door in turn. If you want the wider picture across all trades first, read our guide to how tradies get more leads online.
Google Business Profile for concreters
Your Google Business Profile is the free listing that puts you in the map results. For local service work it is usually the highest return thing you can set up, and it costs nothing per enquiry.
Pick the right primary category. The primary category tells Google what you are. For most concreters that is Concrete contractor, which appears in Google's business category list as tracked by PlePer's category tool (checked 3 October 2026). Only add secondary categories for work you genuinely do, and confirm the exact wording in the category picker inside your profile, since Google adjusts its list from time to time.
Set your service areas honestly. Most concreters work from home or a yard, so set yourself up as a service area business and hide the street address. List the suburbs and regions you actually travel to. Spreading yourself across a whole state rarely helps, because Google still weighs how close you are to the person searching.
Photos are your best salesperson. Upload real photos of finished work, labelled in your own head by job type: plain driveways, exposed aggregate, coloured and stencilled finishes, house slabs, shed slabs, paths and pool surrounds. Add a few from the boxing and steel stage too. They show the bit customers never see and quietly signal that you do the preparation properly. Keep adding new ones every few weeks so the profile looks active.
Ask for reviews after every job. The best moment is when the customer first walks on the finished surface. Text them a direct link to your review page that day. Reviews that mention the type of job and the suburb are the most useful to the next customer reading them, so it is fine to say "if you can mention it was a driveway in Werribee, that helps people like you find us". Never offer anything in return for a review.

Google Ads and Local Services Ads
Local Services Ads are the pay per lead ads that can appear above everything else on Google, with a verification badge that Google now calls Google Verified. We checked Google's own Local Services Ads help pages for Australia on 3 October 2026 and could not confirm from Google's category list whether concreting is an eligible category here. So check whether your trade is eligible before you plan around it: start the sign up in your Google Ads or Local Services account and see whether concreting is offered for your area. Google is also moving Local Services Ads management into Google Ads, so what you see may change.
Standard Google Ads are available to any concreter and charge per click. They suit concreting well because you can aim them squarely at the high value searches and ignore the rest.
- Bid on job specific searches such as "concrete driveway", "exposed aggregate driveway" and "house slab" combined with the areas you service.
- Add negative keywords for the DIY crowd: searches with "how to", "bag", "mix", "calculator" or hardware store names are people planning to do it themselves.
- Send each ad to the matching page on your website, such as a driveway page, rather than the homepage.
- Set a daily budget you are comfortable spending while you learn, and judge it by jobs won, not by clicks or calls.

The concreting angle: visual work, builder referrals and suburb pages
Three things set concreting apart from most other trades, and good concreting marketing leans into all three.
Driveways and slabs are high value and very visual. Because each job is a big decision for the customer, they look hard before they ring. That means your photos, your reviews and your website do most of the selling. Build a simple gallery for each finish you offer, with the suburb named, and put the best of it on your Google profile. A short phone video of a pour or a finished surface catching the light works well too. When someone is searching for driveway leads in their own head, they are really searching for proof that you have done a driveway like theirs.
Builder referrals bring steady volume. Residential builders, extension builders, landscapers and pool builders all need a concreter they can trust to turn up on the day the pump is booked. That reliability is what they buy. To win that work:
- Make a short list of builders and landscapers working in your area. Their signs are on site fences and their names are on Google.
- Introduce yourself in person or by phone with one clear offer: what you do, the areas you cover, and how fast you can usually start.
- Do the first job for them exceptionally well, then ask if they would be happy to recommend you or leave a review.
- Keep in touch between jobs. A short message when you have a gap in your schedule is often all it takes.
Suburb pages win local searches. People search with their suburb in the query. A website with one page per main service (driveways, slabs, exposed aggregate, paths) and one page per suburb or area you want more work in gives Google something specific to show. Each suburb page should be genuinely useful: the jobs you have done there, photos from those jobs, local considerations such as sloping blocks or reactive clay soils if they apply to you, and a clear way to ask for a quote. Avoid copying the same page and swapping the suburb name, because thin duplicate pages rarely rank.
None of this needs an agency. It needs a clear plan and a bit of time each week, which is what our tradies course is built around.
Lead sites: use them, then rely on them less
Lead sites have a real place in concreting. They can fill a quiet month quickly, and they need no website or ad account to get started. If you are new or moving into a new area, they get the phone ringing.
Know the trade off though. On most platforms you pay for access to a lead that may also go to other concreters, so you are racing to call first and then often competing on price. The reviews you earn sit on their platform, and the customer relationship belongs to them. Platforms also change. Oneflare, once a well known option for Australian tradies, has closed, and anyone who relied on it had to rebuild their pipeline on someone else's timeline.
Use lead sites as a tap you turn on when you are quiet, not as the foundation. If you are weighing up hipages, our breakdown of alternatives to renting leads from hipages walks through the options, and our honest look at ServiceSeeking for tradies covers how that model works.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get more concreting jobs without paying for leads?
Set up a complete Google Business Profile under the Concrete contractor category, add photos of real finished jobs, and ask every customer for a review on the day you finish. Then build relationships with local builders and landscapers, and add service and suburb pages to your website. None of these charge you per enquiry.
What is the best Google Business Profile category for a concreter?
For most concreters the primary category is Concrete contractor. Add secondary categories only for work you genuinely do, and check the exact wording in the category picker in your profile, because Google updates its list from time to time.
Can concreters use Google Local Services Ads in Australia?
We could not confirm concreting as an eligible Local Services Ads category in Australia from Google's own pages when we checked on 3 October 2026. Check whether your trade is eligible by starting the sign up in your account. Standard Google Ads are available to any concreter in the meantime.
How do I get driveway leads specifically?
Give driveways their own page on your website and their own gallery of finished work, named by suburb. Run Google Ads on driveway searches in the areas you cover, with negative keywords to filter out DIY searches. Ask driveway customers to mention the job type in their review, and use a lawn sign after each pour.
Are lead sites like hipages worth it for concreters?
They can be worth it as a short term way to fill a quiet patch, especially when you are starting out. They are a weak foundation because leads are often shared, you compete on price, and the reviews stay on the platform. Use them while you build the channels you own.
