Best AI Marketing Courses in Australia 2027: Prices, Free Options and Honest Picks
Nov 07, 2026
Updated January 2027 · Written by Adrian Prokopiec, 20 Minute Marketing
Quick answer: For most people learning AI for marketing in 2027, the best AI marketing course in Australia is Prompt to Profit by 20 Minute Marketing: $99 paid once, self-paced, with 12 months access, a 30 day money-back guarantee and a Certificate of Completion. Choose RMIT Online ($1,900, 2027 starts 18 January, 15 March and 14 June) for a university credential, the University of Sydney's one day course (from $700) if you already use AI and want a live class, or the free HubSpot and TAFE NSW courses if your budget is $0.
A year ago, choosing an AI marketing course mostly meant picking between a free platform course and a university short course. Going into 2027 the choice is wider and, in some ways, more confusing. The federal government now has a National AI Plan and new guidance for businesses adopting AI, free AI microskills are being offered to a million Australians, and the big tech companies are running their own training drives.
We rechecked every course in this guide on the provider's own page in November 2026, so the prices and 2027 dates below are current as you plan your year. Our full AI marketing courses comparison still has the background on each option. This page is the 2027 update: what's changed, what it costs now, and which course we'd pick for which goal.

What's Changed for AI Marketing Courses in 2027
Most "best AI course" lists get a new year in the headline and nothing else. Here's what's genuinely different since our last guide, and why it matters when you choose.
1. Australia now has a National AI Plan and official adoption guidance
The federal government released its National AI Plan on 2 December 2025, and in October 2025 it published the Guidance for AI Adoption, which streamlines the earlier Voluntary AI Safety Standard into six essential practices for organisations using AI. For marketers, that means "responsible AI" is no longer a nice extra. A 2027 course should teach you to check AI output, protect customer data and stay honest with customers, not just generate more content faster.
2. Free AI training has gone mainstream
The government has backed one million fully subsidised places in AI microskills delivered by TAFE NSW's Institute of Applied Technology Digital with the National AI Centre. The National AI Centre lists three free courses: Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI and its Business Applications, and Responsible AI. In April 2026 Microsoft committed to helping three million Australians build AI skills by the end of 2028. The upshot: you no longer need to pay to learn what AI is. You pay for applying it to marketing.
3. Small businesses are adopting AI, but unevenly
The government's National AI Plan reports that over one third of SMEs have adopted AI, with regional organisations adopting at a lower rate (29%) than metropolitan ones (40%). If you work in or for a regional business, practical AI skills are a real edge in 2027.
4. University options have moved to set 2027 dates
RMIT Online has published three 2027 intakes for its AI in Marketing short course (18 January, 15 March and 14 June), and the University of Sydney's Centre for Continuing Education has scheduled its advanced AI for marketing day through to November 2027. RMIT has held its $1,900 price since our September 2026 check.
5. Platform courses are more AI-led, and shorter
HubSpot's AI for Marketers runs as six lessons and 15 videos, under three hours in total, and Google's AI Essentials is pitched at under 10 hours. They're quick, useful introductions. They're not built around your business, your customers or Australian rules.
Our 2027 Price Check: What Each Hour of AI Training Costs
Headline prices hide a lot, so we worked out what you pay per hour of stated learning time, and how each price compares with $99. This is our own calculation from the figures on each provider's page in November 2026.
| Course | Price | Stated learning time | About per hour | Price vs $99 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Prompt to Profit | $99 | Self-paced, 20 minute lessons | Not stated as total hours | 1x |
| RMIT Online AI in Marketing | $1,900 | 48 to 60 hours (6 weeks at 8 to 10 hours) | $32 to $40 | 19x |
| University of Sydney CCE advanced AI day | From $700 | 8 hours | $88 | 7x |
| Upskilled Performance Marketing Pro | $899 | Not stated | Not stated | 9x |
| TAFE NSW Generative AI microskill | Free (listed at $140) | 3 to 5 hours | $0 (listed price works out at $28 to $47) | Free |
| HubSpot AI for Marketers | Free | 2 hours 49 minutes | $0 | Free |
Our calculation, rounded to the nearest dollar. Hours are the provider's own figures; university courses also include assessment, which per-hour cost doesn't capture. Prices for RMIT ($1,900), Upskilled ($899) and our own course ($99) are unchanged from our September 2026 check. Upskilled shows an RRP of $1,199 against the same $899 price.
Two things stand out. First, you can now get roughly six to eight hours of solid AI basics for nothing by combining HubSpot and TAFE NSW. Second, the jump from free to paid is about application: whether a course makes you produce marketing work with AI, or only explains it.
The Best AI Marketing Courses for 2027, Ranked
1. Prompt to Profit by 20 Minute Marketing: best overall for most learners
Prompt to Profit is our AI marketing course, built for marketers, freelancers, career changers and business owners in Australia. Its 19 modules cover the AI tools, prompts and workflows for content, SEO and answer engine optimisation, chatbots, automation, YouTube advertising and image generation, each designed to be practised in a 20 minute session. It's $99 paid once, with 12 months access, a Certificate of Completion, tutor support and a 30 day money-back guarantee. You finish with prompts and workflows you can show an employer or a client. For a module by module look, see our AI marketing course curriculum breakdown.
Where it falls short: there are no live classes, it's not nationally recognised training. If you need a university name on your CV, RMIT is the better pick.
2. RMIT Online: best for a university credential
Six weeks online at 8 to 10 hours a week, $1,900, with an RMIT credential you can validate and share. It's strategy-led: you map AI onto the customer journey, plan an integration, cover responsible AI and finish with a five minute video pitch of an AI initiative. Strong if your employer is paying. More than most people need just to start using AI well. Will not give you much else to take into use for Google Ads, META etc.
3. University of Sydney CCE: best live class for existing AI users
A one day course from $700, in Sydney or on Zoom, covering ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity for research, content planning, brand tone of voice and repurposing. The University says it's not suitable for beginners and assumes you've done its foundation course or have equivalent knowledge.
4. Upskilled Performance Marketing Pro: best for AI inside wider skills
Five self-paced short courses covering Google ads, Meta ads, conversion rate optimisation, email marketing with AI and SEO, for $899 with 12 months access. Upskilled describes it as industry-recognised and non-accredited. AI is one part of the bundle rather than the focus.
5. HubSpot Academy, TAFE NSW and Google: best free starting points
HubSpot's AI for Marketers is free and covers prompting, personalisation, SEO and ethics in under three hours. TAFE NSW's Generative AI microskill is free and takes 3 to 5 hours. Google AI Essentials is free if you finish inside the 7 day trial. All three are good introductions; none will build a marketing plan around your business. Our HubSpot AI for Marketers vs Prompt to Profit comparison goes through the trade-off.
Also worth knowing: UNSW MARK5835
UNSW's Artificial Intelligence in Marketing is a postgraduate subject with prerequisites, taught inside UNSW programs rather than sold on its own. In 2026 it ran in Terms 1 and 2 with online lectures and in-person tutorials in Sydney. Right if you're already doing a UNSW master's degree.
