Compare: All comparisons | vs TAFE or RTO diploma | vs bootcamps | vs free certificates

Quick answer: You can learn digital marketing in Australia through a TAFE or RTO qualification, a bootcamp or short course, free platform certificates, or a self paced course like 20 Minute Marketing. Qualifications give you recognition, bootcamps give live teaching and career support, certificates prove one tool, and we give practical skills and a portfolio from $79.

How to decide

  • Need a qualification on the national register? Choose a TAFE or RTO course. Check whether you qualify for a subsidy first.
  • Want live classes, mentors and career services? A bootcamp gives you those, at a higher price.
  • Want practical skills and a portfolio at a low price, on your own schedule? That is what we built 20 Minute Marketing for. Every lesson is written by someone who runs digital marketing for two national brands.
  • Whatever you choose, collect the free Google and HubSpot certificates as well.

Frequently asked questions

Is this course accredited?

No, and that's a deliberate choice. 20 Minute Marketing is not a registered training organisation, and our courses are not nationally recognised training.

Accreditation adds cost, and that cost would put practical digital marketing education out of reach for many people, especially young people starting out. It is also slow. The national Certificate IV in Marketing and Communication hasn't been updated since October 2020, while Google, Meta and the AI tools change every few months. We update our lessons when the platforms change, and every lesson is written by someone who runs digital marketing for two national brands.

If you need a qualification on the national register, a TAFE or RTO course is the right choice. If you want current, practical skills, a portfolio you can show an employer or client, and a Certificate of Completion, you're in the right place. Many learners also collect free certificates from Google and HubSpot alongside our courses.

What is the cheapest way to learn digital marketing in Australia?

Free certificates from Google Skillshop and HubSpot Academy cost nothing. For a structured course, subsidised TAFE can be low: a concession student at North Metropolitan TAFE pays $634.90 for the Certificate IV core units. Our courses cost $79 to $999, paid once.

Can any of these options guarantee me a job?

No honest provider can promise a job. Some bootcamps offer extra courses and career support if you are not hired within a set time, so read the terms. What you can control is the skills you build and the work you can show.

Can I combine more than one option?

Yes, and many people do. A common mix is a structured course for skills and a portfolio, plus free platform certificates, plus a qualification later if a role needs one.

Who writes the 20 Minute Marketing lessons?

Every lesson is written by someone who runs digital marketing for two national brands, and we update lessons when the platforms change.
